This seminar provides information on starting and promoting your business independently. The seminar will begin with the basics of building a business, as explained by Fashion Consultant, Keisa Sullivan, founder of KS Consulting, Inc., and will end with the importance of developing promotional tools, as told by publicist, Paloma Belara, owner of Papa Lo Down, a PR & marketing consulting service. With the guidance of these two talented and experienced entrepreneurs, attendees will gain a wealth of knowledge about creating, maintaining, and expanding their business.

This seminar is ideal for the recent college graduate still developing their individual business plan, and the unconventional artist or designer looking to understand the basics of promotion.

Paloma Belara was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, and gives credit to New York City for developing her business savvy state of mind. With an education in Fashion Merchandising Management (FIDM) and Marketing (LIM), her entrance into the music industry came at a time when the playing field was shaken by mp3’s and ipod’s. A brief position at a digital distribution company gave Paloma the opportunity to attend the Midem Music Conference in Cannes, France, and a new sense of determination to pursue a career in music on her own terms. Paloma has since then taken on artist management, publicity, promotions, distribution, and licensing, providing a well rounded background of the music business that has seamlessly tied into her fashion/retail roots - providing clients with over 10 years of experience.  Paloma also incorporates education with youth into her work, and is currently creating PR/Marketing workshops to bring into the classroom, as well as mentoring and partnering with several youth organizations (NFTE, EBAYC, BRL).  With the Bay Area being home base, Paloma’s efforts are focused on building the awareness of independent businesses through publicity and marketing with her company, Papa Lo Down - Providing artists and entrepreneurs with a focused and qualitative service to further their careers.

Keisa Sullivan is a Fashion Show Producer, Wardrobe Stylist, and Consultant for independent fashion designers in the Los Angeles area. Originally from the suburbs of the Bay Area, Keisabegan her career in fashion as a student at American Intercontinental University, graduating with a BFA in Fashion Marketing. She began working as an intern for the show "The Look For Less", on The Style Network, and was also an Assistant Buyer at Kitson. Keisa also held a position at Lucky Brand Jeans.  Two years ago Keisa decided to begin her consulting business, KS CONSULTING, INC., when she saw a void in the industry for upcoming designers to develop and promote their businesses. Keisa currently hosts a weekly fashion show event in the LA area to feature upcoming designers in the community.  Keisa's philosophy is, "Its not what you wear it how you wear it"!
